Things: tip for following Cam23 step by step instructions

I am just following the step-by-step instructions for Thing 10 and realise I have done something on autopilot that other people may not know about and may find handy. It is possible to have the Cam23 instructions displayed alongside the website of the Thing you are working on so you don't have to keep jumping between two windows.

To do this you need to have your browser open twice. Probably the quickest way to do this is to press the Start Menu and click on your browser programme (eg. Internet Explorer) and then to do exactly the same thing again - i.e. press the start menu again and select you browser again.

Once you have done this you right click on the background of the Windows taskbar (i.e. the big grey bar along the bottom of the screen). In the pop up menu that appears select Tile Windows Horizontally.
I use this function quite a bit to compare say two versions of a report or two lots of data in Excel tables.

Apologies this is so Windows based people.
PS does anyone have any idea why my posts get truncated in Girl in the Moon's feed of all the blogs?!

  1. I'm not sure about the truncation - what are you viewing it in? On the main RSS page (http://www.google.com/reader/bundle/user%2F06868313924869516916%2Fbundle%2F23%20Things%20Cambridge) it looks like a few of them are truncated, and I think this is a feature of people's individual blog settings. Most of them are there whole, though, and that's how they're coming through to me in Google Reader. Truncation isn't something I introduced on purpose.

  2. I am indeed viewing it at the main RSS page with the link you give rather than following it in any kind of reader. Firefox and IE are both the same. Can't spot anything in my blog settings. Curious the feed hasn't picked up my screen shot either...

  3. I take that back. I had 'Allow Blog Feeds' set as 'Short' rather than as 'Full'. Thank you!
